COMPANY PROFILE

CME, Inc. first entered into the gram load test equipment environment in 1988. We concentrated our efforts in the Disk Drive Manufacturing Industry, to provide them with Head Gimbal Assembly (HGA) and Head Stack Assembly (HSA) inspection capability. Until this time, there was virtually no presence of a commercially available inspection system. Initially, these test systems were only used at the HGA component level and had only 0.1 gram resolution. To the best of our knowledge, we were the first company to deliver a HSA level fixture, which now made it possible for the Disk Drive Manufacturer to measure the gram load after assembly into a Head Stack Assembly.

In 1990, we introduced the CME-GL-100. The first strain gauge lead beam device, with 0.01 gram resolution. Disk Drive, Head, and Media Manufacturers, were now provided capability to measure the gram load force with greater accuracy.

With increased recording densities, lower flying heights, and demands for greater storage capacities, CME introduced the first gram loader tester utilizing "Force Motor" Transducer Technology in the fall of 1991. Our GL-1000/S offered the user selectable resolutions to 0.001 grams, on a platform that was very stable, extremely accurate and repeatable. Unlike the load beam technology, the "Force Motor" allowed the user to measure his HGA's and HSA's at their true Z-Height.

We are continuing to provide the industry with state-of-the-art gram load measuring equipment with new products such as our GL-3000/S and GL-1000/IIS. Our commitment to provide unique tooling solutions to our customers, has led to the development of our Eazy Load family of component level fixtures. These fixtures allow the user to easily mount the suspension and achieve accurate and repeatable test results.

With over thirty years experience in the component segment of the recording industry, CME has the understanding needed to provide our customer base cost effective solutions for their fixturing requirements. Accurate and repeatable measurement of the gram load force is necessary to insure the proper interpretation of Flying Height, CSS testing, and components/stack level Electrical testing. To that end, CME will strive to deliver cost effective solutions.
